I started positioning the floor and firewall into the 49. It's time consuming but I'm making progress. It's setting about one inch too high right now but the fore and aft location is good. I'll mess with it some more tomorrow.

I got the floor and firewall tacked in on the 49 but had to stop. I'm just completely out of room. I had to break off and finish gutting the CTS so I can get it out of the garage. I busted down both doors and boxed everything up. I thought I might cut the inner face of the door frames out and graft them into the 49 doors. That would make mounting everything much easier but the window regulator tracks are raked toward the rear in the CTS. As the window is rolled up, it moves toward the rear slightly. I need the exact opposite. On the 49, the window regulators need to be raked forward to match the forward rake of the A pillar. If I am going to modify the inner door frame, I'll just modify the 49 doors and sell the CTS shells. I can correct the front/rear rake problem by swapping the regulators, using the left regulator on the right door and vice versa..
Next up was the headliner and rear interior trim panels. It took a little time to remove the main body harness because I had to tag everything. It's looking pretty empty in there but there's still work to do. Rear seat belts and a couple trunk fittings. The gas tank, fuel lines, and brake lines from below and that's about it. Get it out of here!!

I have everything I need out of the CTS. I was going to start cutting it up today but when I removed the gas tank, I spilled some gas. Not a lot but enough that the evaporation was leaving some heavy fumes hanging in the air so I cleaned up and kept a fan going with the doors open for the rest of the day.
I don't smell any trace of gas now so I'll start cutting it up tomorrow.

Jack - way back on Page 6 with Post 51 you show a vice grip spot weld hack tool.
Can you show how this is used? I'm having a hard time picturing this being a novice.

The clamp is used when you are plug welding two panels along the edge like a pinch weld. I think I showed this when I was putting the rocker panels on. You would drill holes in one panel, then clamp it to the second panel and weld through the holes. Using the open end wrench and 3/16 plate makes them much stronger than the ones that they sell. You could also do this with two needle nose vice grips as shown below, but with the modified clamp, the copper backing keeps you from burning through, and the weld won't stick to the copper.
