Hardly got to touch it this week I'm afraid as got way laid with my back seizing up again for a few days. Least it not a few weeks like it used to be each time, so pleased about that.

Just clamped a few panels together to see where I am at and make sure it fits the image I had in my head. Need to stand back some times just to make sure you are on track.

Absolutely. I'd strongly advice getting it out in the daylight so you can see it at a distance. I saw lots of things I didn't see on my roadster when I got far enough away to see it 'big picture'. You're doing a great job. VERY impressive project!

One question -- are you using a factory width grille section or are you widening that the same as the cab itself?

I see with the former you create different hood angles, fender mate-up lines, etc from the widened cab to the factory width grille shell -- lots of work potentially as well as underhood packaging issues. With the latter, you keep factory tapers as well as allowing for the wider radiator of the newer Jeep.

If you do the former, you can widen but hide the extra width within the grille air openings themselves (each one made a bit wider) -- perk is more airflow through radiator as well as visually hiding the width added. (and all Jeep's have seven slots in the grille so adding more isn't cool!) And you retain the headlight itself carved through the outer openings which is a distinctive style feature.

note: you probably have thought this through already -- but was just curious.

I like this build as lots of good ideas, techniques and it shows what can be done without requiring $$$$$'s of special fabrication tools, etc -- creativity is the key!

G'day Mark.
Not sure if it was posted in this thread or not but I will be adding an extra grille slot each side and that will then match the donor radiator core width. Will be using the 58 grille which has 8 slots now so will end of with 10 slots, the same as the original 48 grille! That is not quite enough width on its own so the rest will be on each side of the grille opening but will keep the headlights central. Originally I was going to add a strip in but think now I will be capable of making whole new parts each side of the grille.

Stock grille width.

Extra grille bar each side. No extra width added around the headlights though.
