Sad News...Cal Davis
Jerry Gully called me just now. He had gotten a call from Cal Davis' son that Cal had passed away yesterday.
Cal was an important member of the metalshaping community. He was a good friend of John Glover and helped Cal design a version of the 'Glover English Wheel'. His company, MetalCraft tools was originally based in the Carolinas and Cal was very involved with NASCAR shops. He and his son ??? did training, consulting, and manufacturing their 'Glover' machine as well as a small 24" benchtop. About 15 or 20 years ago, they moved their operation to the Cumberland Plateau near Crossville TN. I visited Cal, his son and wife several times at their new facility. Even though we were competitors, Cal was always friendly, gracious, and had time to talk about what he was working on and anything about metal shaping. Cal was a good man and will be missed.
