This is what I am up to now. making a hood with .040 6061-T6 sheet.I know I didn't think it was the material to use either but I was in one of Kent Whites classes and the subject came up and Kent said why not a lot of the 60's race cars bodies were made with 6061-T6 so I thought I would give it a shot and it works better than I thought it would. Making up the form for the under hood framework. Putting a radius on the form with the router. Tooling for the Pullmax for use on the 3003H14 aluminum framework. Pullmax doing its thing.

Pullmax work finished Unloaded from the form boards note the screw holes to hold every things in place. The next two photos are reversed but they do go hand and hand with tipping the flange in the bead roller and shrinking for the crown going back and forth till the desired crown and flange angle is achieved. Bead roller with upper tipping die and lower die set up with a depth stop ring to hold flange width. This high tech tool is a couple pieces of scrap plywood shimmed up so the piece will slide through as it is tweaked into shape. Applying the pressure was done from the end that runs off the bench to give support to the other end while it was walked along and tweaked. Checking crown with the gauge.

The car is finished to the point it can be run this season. I have not been posting -- doing the mad rush to complete project. Will come back though and show some of the build.Hear are a few photos. The 1/4 panel trim pieces are hand formed aluminum. The chin spoiler is removable with 1/4 turn fasteners so it can be loaded in the trailer without hitting the ramps. The hood and scoop is not what I had planned. Ran out of time and the hood was kicking my butt so we got it close and put a skim coat of bondo on it and wrapped it with carbon fiber film. I am going to build a new aluminum hood and I am going to need some help from you guys. The scoop was made from aluminum and lexan remnants lying around the shop. My wife said I need to put a pictue of me in the post so this is me. After some shake down runs the first run all the way through the 1/4 mile was an ET of 8.67 @158 MPH

Absolutely sweet looking drag car . With that name on the side you should do a burn out & wheels up pass video for U-tube with AC DC playing Thunderstruck in the background. Could you stand being a bit famous ? ~ John Buchtenkirch
