I've looked high and low for the pic of that blue one. I had seen that a while back and forgotten where. That is the stance that I want to go for, with the different styled bed...

Seriously, I don't know. Whatever the height of the running boards is. We moved the fender bottom up to the bottom of the doors.
Kerry

Just what kind of weather are you having in August for those guys to be wearing jackets?

I think DixieLand 2009 was in February or thereabouts.

Lots of distractions for the past months. New Grandkids, new motorhome, bad motor in new motorhome, life, etc. All this meant that there hasn't been much metalshaping going on in my shop. Waiting on a few things and had the urge to get my hands black.

Back when we first started designing this truck, Roger and Uncle Johnny offered to let me borrow a fender from one of their Suburbans. I started on it during last years DixieLand gathering. Steve Hamilton and I got into a bit of a discussion on how to make it. I wanted to use my Eckold and Steve though other ways were better. I didn't/don't disagree with him but wanted to see what the Eckolds would do...especially the 460 as I had not really used it that much since I got it going.

Here is the fender that Roger left with me. I wanted to get the fender done and return it to them this year...plus it was kind of in the way so I was motivated to finish this project

Flexible shape patterns were made and I decided to do two pieces and split it fender right over the wheel. Yeah, yeah, not the easiest way, refer to paragraph 2.

I've decided I really prefer working aluminum. This steel stuff is heavy. My welding sucks but I can clean it up.

Has a pretty nice flow to it. All done on the Eckold and wheel....refer to paragraph 2.

Here they are side by side. The arrangement is off a bit on the back side of the new fender and I haven't done the bottoms because I don't know what we are going to do yet. The rear bottom is too long and the front is missing the lower 6" with the step.

Kris has a new son and his priorities and spare time aren't what they were......

This fender was pretty much all shrink except for a few times when I over shrunk and had to stretch it back out.
