1933 Austin Ruby
I had posted this in my Devon thread, but after GoJeep mentioned chopping and widening the 32 Willys I thought I should start a thread for the Ruby. Here it is as found.
And then some doodling to show a 2" chop. And a front view with a 4" wider body and grill. The engine compartment is only 18" wide at the front and would probably accept the V8 60 OK, but the cabin is only about 40" wide so I need more room there. Without a firewall, floor, or roof the cutting and spreading would only require minimal welding at the cowl and above the windshield, and since those parts have to be made anyway, I can cut the welding length in half by making them as single pieces.

There's a guy on the HAMB (the Hokey Assed Message Board) building a Ruby.
He has a Geo engine going in. |

Fargoman, I exchanged messages with him. He's planning on an electric conversion so expects to be banished from the build thread when he deviates from pre '65.

I have been convinced to pass on the V8 60 and have picked up a couple of 215 Buicks to assemble into a runner. So, rather than work out in the cold bay I made a quick pattern to space the T5 transmission back .400" to clear the pilot bearing cavity and poured them today.
The first piece is on the lathe now so the spigot and recess can be turned concentric.

Love the casting route you have taken.

I finished machining the spacer and cut the four relief pockets for the cap screw heads and mounting holes. Then assembled the pieces to check the stick out of the pilot shaft.
