Steel out wood framed doors
I have previously asked a question here regarding '34 Ford doors.
After looking at the image of the '33 all steel door posted by Gleeser, I have removed the wood heap nailed into these doors and am in the process of making these all steel. I have added a 1/4" angle brace in the hinge area, and made an inner panel which I will weld in when I finalise the glass run channels

Stuart, when you first posted this I didn't notice the inner structure being wood...which was, in retrospect, what you were talking about. I've never worked on anything of that era that had a wooden structure. It must have weighted a ton!
The new door looks great. Is that an aftermarket window mechanism?

Kerry,
Steeling out these doors will likely reduce the weight by at least half, and increase the rigidity as well. Shown below is the ammount of wood and hardware removed from one door I followed a Triumph TR-4 on the road last week, scary how fluid the wood framed bodies look when they go down the road, no wonder the doors fly open. The window mechanisms are some generic power window kits to keep the cost down, I prefer SPW kits
