Default Hand tool product review.

Hi,

Every once and awhile, you make a purchase and become surprised on how well it works. I have two products that I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality and function.

The first product comes from TM Technologies. It is their 4"x4" flame resistant canvas shot bag. I added this to my last purchase, to help round out the order and I use it all the time. It works great as a soft dolly for shrinking out in the middle of a panel and is wonderful for welding.

I use it to hold the parts while tack welding. The weight helps prevent the part from lifting while heated. I also use it to tap the seam closed while welding. The high temp material protects the bag and should last a long time. For shrinking out in the middle of a panel, I use it as a conventional dolly, with a plastic mallet. It shrinks well but I do need to practice a little more. I will be purchasing several more of these.

Next item is this high temp TIG finger sold by my local welder supply. You can find these on-line as well. This one was made by Flak Finger, but Im sure there are other brands as well.

The high temp material, protects your welding gloves and your precious little fingers from burning while welding. I often rest my hand on the hot surface while holding the TIG torch, to control my movement. I use old burned up welding gloves as a heat barrier for my new gloves but that can be a pain is the A$$. The TIG finger does well, if you are running a long bead, and you don't mind having your two fingers contained in the unit. How some of you guys weld with out gloves is beyond me

A Nieuport 28 (WW1 replica) oil tank for a customer, using these tools. Both items are in-expensive and well worth it, in my opinion.

Tight weld joints made easier and gloves that will last longer, that is AOK by me.

Bill
Thanks for the reviews.

Looks like a couple of items to add on the wish list.
Maybe the Christmas list.
