Default Wisconsinite Introduction

Hi guys. My name is Mike, and I live in a small town in Wisconsin called "Oconomowoc".

I own a plumbing business and have spent most of my life fabricating metal as an amature. I'm currently scratch building a airplane and have been involved with aviation for close to 20 years.

My goal is to sharpen my skills with forming sheet aluminum so I can build my cowl. I have shapped aluminum before but nothing as intense as a cowl.

Nice to be here.
Mike

Hi Mike
Welcome to the group.
Lots of info here. Have a look around, the search function is a great feature!

Welcome to the forum, Mike. Lot's of good info and people here. I hold a metal shaping meet in the fall over in Cumberland, WI. (Oct 5, 6, & 7 this year) Others on the forum hold meets as well all over the country. They are a good place to meet people people with similar interests. You can learn new techniques and sometimes try equipment you might be thinking about buying.

I'm scratch building a 1950's Cassutt racer which is a tube and fabric design. RV's are assembled more than anything, so my Cassutt project starts with prints only.

I'd love to get together where other like minded people meet. Sounds like fun!

Jack Charles at Lakeshore Technical College near Manitowoc is offering LOW COST metal shaping / coachbuilding classes. He's very interested in Experimental Aircraft, too.

Hi,

Welcome to the group, I'm based at East Troy airport. My company Tromblay Tool specialized in aircraft component manufacturing, including aluminum forming.

I love the cassutt racer, almost considered building one several years ago.

Enjoy the forum.

Cheers,

Bill
