Default New guy from Michigan

Hey all I'm Kris from Michigan.
My experience with sheet metal forming is limited to the tool box that I made in high school (which held up quit nicely for 15+ years). Now that I'm a big boy I got a job making parts, and prototyping on the computer. Even though what I make will be virtual, any thing that I learn from you guys will help my concepts become something that can be realistically manufactured.

Welcome to the forum! There's quite a bit of instruction, tools and shops here in Michigan.

Default Welcome aboard

Hi Kris,
I'm new to the forum as well, and hope to learn more here. I also have been learning Autodesk Fusion 360. I'm a member at Port City Maker Space , it's a community shop that has many different shops such as 3D printers and CNC routers. I built a foot operated stand for my Shrinker/Stretcher there and have got a lot of interest from others in the community. I'm hoping to add metal shaping to the metal shop there and share what I learn along the way. I'm new but always willing to share any knowledge that I might be able to help with.

The plan is to get a 3D printer, and a desktop CNC mill one of these days. They had a purging at the company before they brought me on board. So my job is maintaining all the drawings, but also helping develop new products. We tried convincing the bean counters to let us have a maker space subscription in GR, but they weren't so easily swayed. I've been actually thinking about getting some training, paid by the company of course, at the local tech center in sheet metal, and welding.
