Granbury Metal Shaping Gathering a Success
Howdy from Texas,
Well, we had our 2nd metal shaping gathering this year and from all who attended it was a success. Jason Ferguson of Texas Bike Works was the perfect host. Our hats off to him for opening up his shop and tools for us to use. The participants ranged from older professionals in the trades to complete newbies who had never held a metal shaping hammer before. We had 7 attending in January and we had 19 attending this time. It was a time of learning and fellowship and good pizza. It was quite fulfilling watching the younger guys when they reached that "Aha!" moment when they realized what they could do with shaping metal. They seemed to just soak up all the information thrown at them. These guys are our future and we should be proud of them! Peace, Chaz Granbury 25.jpg Granbury 10.jpg Granbury 28.jpg Granbury 8.jpg Granbury 5.jpg Granbury 11.jpg |

Hi Rick,
Maybe so, maybe so! There was a lot of excitement and energy in the group. You could actually feel it in the air. Not much BS going on just pounding metal and soaking up the information. Here are a couple of more shots of the Gathering. Gordon (Don) Bartlett giving an orientation and the basics of making a bowl and teardrop blisters. Granbury 16.jpg Tim Young of Irrational Metal Works giving an impromptu lesson on annealing aluminum. I got there late and missed orientation, did'nt matter, could only observe until I get stitches out. Great fun and learned a lot. All the young men took pity on me and tried different techniques I could observe and told me which ones they thought worked best for them. Also ordered a martin dolly Monday, I fell in lust with that one of the men brought. Saw hammers I never knew existed. FUN FUN FUN. can hardly wait for the next one.

I'd love to come to the next event.
And I'm not scared to hold it while I beat it I'm right handed so I'm forcing myself to hold with the right and beat with the left, don't want my right forearm too much bigger than my left ya know
