Default Gas torch Tip size

hello all
Thought I should start hew thread on tip size . I,m using an old linde 110 prestolite torch .Have a size 3 tip in it used tip cleaner for size ,mics 30 thou . Is this size good for welding 18 19 ga? are tip sizes standard sizes or is this a manufacturing call ??

Hi Larry I cant help on the actual sizes because your tips are different to ours but I would use a larger one for 18G than I would for 19g/20g.

It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. There are some charts out there that do compare sizes, Bit I cant say how accurate they are because you dont know how many times they have been cleaned or drilled. What you did by measuring what you want to use is the best way to compare apples to apples. My henrob tips have been drilled so I will measure my fav and get back to you.

ya I guess thats what I,m looking for is comparison marty . posters in other threads are mentioning 0 and 00 size which seems small by comparison .

My fav sheetmetal tip mics out at .020 thousands. I use this tip from 20 - 16 ga, just adjusting the torch as I go.

I have a small jewlers torch that had a 000 tip on it when I got it. It has worked for 30 years for me. I just used it for patch panels.
Then I got an Henrob last year , and haven't used it sense.
