Steel rust repairs using the Meco and hand tools (.015"-.38mm)

Rusty old fender with cracked-out section P1040319.jpg trim back, make patch, tack in place P1040321.jpg weld complete P1040333.jpg sand weld down, hammer the weld, sandblast, hammer with heat P1040340.jpg file with fine straight cut body file P1040341.jpg sand with 180 P1040342.jpg back side view notes: 1929 BlueBird bicycle fender metal is .015" steel .38mm welded with Meco #0 tip, w/slight fuel feather to compensate for lost carbon from the years of rust hammered the 1/16" ER70S6 welding wire to make it thin, for ease of welding These are paint grade parts.

Unfortunately the old car hobby is all about rust and how to deal with it, those little tips and tricks go a long way.
