Default 5 dollar tungsten grinder

Hi Gang,

this works for me for over a year now, i thought i would share it with you....

We had little knife grinders here in the past,i found one on a fleamarket they look like this.(mine is not the one in the picture)

I took the black cap off where you normally slide the knife trough.

What shows up is a small regular grinding stone.

I replaced that with a diamond grinding wheel (Dremel)

Then i made a little holder where the tungsten can slide trough.

You van adjust it to your needs before you fix it so it does not move.

Start the machine and slide the tungsten so the it hits the wheel , spin it around between your fingers and it will grind a perfect point.

Enjoy

Ben

That's pretty neat! Nice and compact so it can sit on top of your fab/weld table. . .no excuses to not sharpen tungstens properly with a setup like that!

Nice tip!

On the grinding dust, a Festtool vacuum will work nicely. HEPA filter to capture small particle.

When I ran my shop vac it was letting MDF dust back into the air, and playing havoc on my lungs. I could taste it, but shop air didn't look dusty. The Festtool is expensive, but running the CNC router with it means I can work in the shop with the doors down. Hmm, time to hammer form a dust shield for the grinder to sit it. Been meaning to braze aluminum, so this could be interesting.
