Aston Martin hood welds (1978)
Back side of hood, showing narrow even O/A welds on the aluminum skin:
P1040621 c.jpg P1040622 c.jpg These welds show an alternating penetration, suggesting skip welding. Probably planished somewhat on the wheel, and then metal finished, with hand work/tools helping to level.

I agree, although when I stripped mine, I did spend a lot of time straightening up the original panels.
Also I was surprised to find the bonnet skin bonded to the frame, not wrapped around as you would expect.
