Candle wax. I just keep an old candle in the shop for bench grinder, 4 1/2" grinder, belt sander, dremel, whatever I'm using on aluminum. Just touch candle to abrasive while spinning and start grinding. Reapply periotically. Also good for screws, such as tapcons.

Thanks Robert, I'll call them on Monday
Kerry

I found some DeWalt wheels for aluminum locally that should work but if not I'll give you a call.

Thanks

Yep. I never knew that place existed, they have it pretty well hidden.

Quite a selection, new and used stuff. We always hit that and the colliseum flea market when we visit. Thought that one should be "just down the hill" from you.

I use the 3in 3M roloc sanding discs on a die grinder & follow up with the roloc scotchbrite discs etc to get it completely blended.

In addition to the Tyrolit discs I mentioned earlier, while at my welding supply place last month, I noticed an ALUMINUM GRINDING disc on the wall. I bought one and tried it out. It works great. Seems to last longer than the Tyrolit discs but they are almost twice the price so I'd hope it would. The real advantage is that you can buy them one at a time instead of having to by a box of 25 of the Tyrolits.

They are made by SAIT and are part number A46N-BF. They are 4 1/2 type 27s with the built in threaded hub. I bet the non-hub versions are available and will be cheaper.

I also found a SAIT aluminum cuttoff wheel that looks good.

Haven't tried them yet but will order and report when I get them in if someone else doesn't first.

Here is the grinding wheel from Lehigh $3.75

The DeWalt wheels I bought worked pretty well but they seemed to wear fairly quickly for grinding such soft material. I'll try the ones above if I need some more
