Hi Frank, The door's joints were primed, overlapped and then tacked from the inside well as the outside for additional strength. A sealer and high build surface enhancer will smooth out any imperfections later.

Thanks for checking out the build.

Guess what's back in the shop!

After some time off, it's time to finish up this project as well as bring this thread back to life.

What a great way to start the new year and to revive the thread!

I'm really looking forward to more progress shots and eventually the finished, running monster.

Maybe I already forgot, but have you already settled on a body colour?

Hi Jens, haven't really settled on a colour yet...though I do have a few options in mind that will highlight the body's features. All metal would look pretty cool as well.

Thanks for the kind words Sir.

Full bare metal is a good way to show off your skills, but it's a tremendous amount of work.
Maybe go the route in between like the Veyron Pur Sang, I always liked the two-tone paint job with all the shiny bits.

Initial stage of R2's rear facelift.

A template is created so that features can be transposed to the other side.

Fitting the door top perimeter and exterior skin to the jams. Door opens on a single pivot.

Rear hatch's structure mated with the exterior skin and mounted on the newly created hinges.

Hatch opens for the first time. Work can now start to separate, prime, join and finalize the hatch's fit.

R2's revised rear fascia mocked up. Next step will be to cut the tacks to separate the panels and create the panel's final details.

Hi Mr. Hamilton,

With most of the body's metal work complete, it's now all about the interior's composite work, creating trim pieces and addressing details such as setting the hinges and panel fitment.

Thanks for the thumbs up!
