Default Ron Fournier: RIP

I've just learned that Ron Fournier passed. Ron launched a thousand metal shaping careers. He turned metal shaping, and coach building, from a dying art into a thriving one. Beyond his cultural importance, he was also a fine man. A loving husband, a great father, and a kind and generous friend. RIP Ron. Thank-you so much for all you gave me.

Very big loss to this community. I took Rons week long class many years ago when I considered adding an english wheel to my tool box. He was a fantastic teacher and a true gentleman. I saw him at the Detroit autorama many times and he always was interested in what I was working on and how my skills had progressed. RIP Ron.

When I found his first book in whichever reprint edition in the spring/summer of 95, it was a game changer for me. No matter what I do or read or see done, what is in that book is often the baseline of reference. Very appreciative that he wrote it down like that. It certainly was a very pivotal point in this pursuit.

I did get to thank him over the phone when I ordered a few tools a few years later.

AC I agree that his books where an inspiration to me also and I refer to them often. He autographed both of my books on the day I finished my class with him. Now I will cherish them even more!

I had the pleasure of visiting with Ron on several occasions. He was most gracious and very knowledgeable. He will be sorely missed. His entire family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I've know Ron since the late 70's and enjoyed my collaboration projects with Ron over the many years. He open my eyes too many things and for that I'll always be grateful. My best to Nicole and Dan for Ron's passing.

So very sad to hear this news - sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Ron's awesome books "Sheet Metal Handbook" and "Metal Fabricator's Handbook" were my introduction into the world of sheet metal fabrication some 20 plus years ago. Using his techniques, I fabricated parts for my first car back then and occasionally, I still page through his books looking for inspiration.

About 4 years ago, I contacted him via email with some queries and he took the trouble to help and advise me which I appreciated greatly.

A real gentleman and master of his art.

May Ron's soul rest in peace.
