The insulator pad came out good. It peeled right away from the hood and the release agent washed off with mild soap and water. I trimmed the edges and shelfed it for now. On to the body.

The last area on the car that needs to be finish primered is the rear deck area. First I had to weld in a couple threaded bungs for the seat belt upper mounts.

Finished off the rear deck and sprayed the primer on. I'll give it a couple days to kick since the weather is cooling off around here.

220# 0n the long board. This is about details and patience. This is why custom paint is so expensive, we sand these things with hundred dollar bills. This is also when all your friends disappear. Actually, at this point I wouldn't let anyone touch it.

Hi Jack
My arms and shoulder hurt just from seeing you block sanding.
Not a fun job but well worth it when it’s all shiny!

Block sanding is done. Next is 400# DA with an interface pad.

Each step is better behind me than ahead of me! There's still a lot more nasty work ahead, but after the paint is done it's all clean work.

I started painting today. This is single stage gloss black. I removed all the panels that bolt on and painted the rear half in the garage. There's a little dust but no problem. The whole car will be sanded and buffed anyway.

The rest of the parts will be done in my friend's booth over the next few days.
Here's a link to a short video. For some reason it doesn't auto rotate correctly. It's sideways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuSa...ature=youtu.be
