I'm experienced with the term "Blocking" of knitted garments as they dry, but this may not be a universal term. My understanding was through my grandmother and my (at the time) 60year old (of German ancestry) babysitter in the 50s.

A nice dictionary might be in order. It might help novices, like myself. The order of approved usage might be a problem

Blocking, Hollowing, Rasing, Wheeling machine, English wheel etc , for people that are learning or want to learn
let's concentrate on the trade and not get bogged down with terminology

"Form" is different than "shape", but many of these terms are common to shaping as well:

Many terms like blocking, raising, planishing, etc are shared by the tinsmithing, silversmithing, and jewelry trades as well as coach builders.
