Default Introduction

Good day gentlemen,

I am a rank amateur, to be sure, and would like to remain a rank amateur in attitude even when I have built up my skills. I am honoured to be able to register here. I was a newspaper journalist in Cape Town, South Africa, for 32 years and before that a Marine Corps officer with a bit of combat experience. Now, I mostly work on my family's nerves. And on some automotive projects. I have built two custom motorcycles and have a love of all classic, vintage and veteran cars, with special emphasis on Alfa Romeo. My username is also the first name my mother gave me. It is French for Henry. Either the English or the French cannot spell... My surname is du Plessis. The "du" is important to the French, so I guess it stays. whatever the case may be name-wise, I hope to be able to learn much here and, on the odd occasion, contribute a modest bit too. Best wishes!

Henri
