The bugatti history of body a chassis numbers are always a jumble. It seems a lot of the bugattis were taken back to the factory for changes. Is this practice unique to the bugattis or only more widely known because of their popularity?

One other question......didn't the move to Tennessee have something to do with retirement?

Richard, I have seldom met a gentleman with a wider range of auto restoration skills and a dedicated work ethic than Jim Hery.

As for retirement: The only folks that I know that have time off are the ones with an actual job.

Hi Jim.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful cars with us and the wonderful stories that go with them.

Will, I'm finding retirement hard work as well.

Default Wooden bucks and bulbous shapes

Here are some 57 photos that I hope fit here.
Some indication of wooden buck systems and extreme bulbous shapes.
The whole car itself, doors included, has a wooden frame.
The mudguards/wings/fenders were all made on egg-crate type bucks.
Job Credit: Graham Smith, Bellbrae paint and panel.
I did all the mechanical work on the car, but in a large part Graham's work on this led me to my first shot bag, and finally this week , wheeling machine,
I can only aspire to this sort of thing.

Default Welded seams on front fender

I put tape on all the welds on the front fender. Gangloff used forty (40) different pieces to make this fender.

That is cool stuff. It seems to highlight something that Per has been telling us, that you also need to be a good welder to be a good metal shaper, or at least have a degree of ability in both areas. Is their any filler on the exterior of that fender, or is it metal 'worked' on the exterior?

And I have come to the realisation that I should not worry about having to many pieces.

I am curious how many pieces Peter Tommasini would have used to make that fender. ... either way, came out great!
