Default what gauge & type of sheet metal for speedster ?

What gauge of sheet steel would you suggest I purchase to start fabricating a speedster project ? Is there any specific metal number ? hot rolled or cold rolled ? I've even seen satin finish ? I've seen a lot of youtube clips but most dont mention anything about gauge, or metal type other that steel or aluminum.
Thank you
Tom

I've watched/helped on two speedster projects, around here. Both in .050" 3003 aluminum.

I chose to use .060" 3003 aluminum as it was quickly available from a friends shop and Kent and others have been providing more than adequate advice regarding how to form, shape and weld that alloy. Good luck on your project.

I screwed up. I was editing a post to attach the photos so they could be seen and deleted the post instead. It had a photo of some old speedster parts and mentioned that the poster had helped build a few back in the 70's. My apologies.

Please repost. I'll drink my morning coffee BEFORE I edit things,
