Default Storaging deep draw quality steel

I visited my hometown steel supplier...for some beam, which i needed at work. Then I decided, to hit two flyes with one strike, you know what i mean .I asked for deep drawing quality steel, i know it exists here in finland. The seller said , yes , by order we can get it, it is more expensive. But he said, they canīt keep it at storaged, because it looses itīs abilities, if it storaged long...Have you had these kind of problems, and is this true...???

The sellers have been there a long time, and i believe them, just want to make sure....

Hi Janne, I have some small peices of 18 ga. AK that was old scrap when I purchased it over 20 yrs. ago. It works fine for the kind of work we do. It might be that some of the properties needed for high speed stamping and punching might be deminished with age, but for our use I don't think this is a factor.

I can't believe the properties of the metal would change unless it rusted badly.

Hi Janne,

you don't need deep draw steel for the kind of work we do...i personally did some test ,i think it was 2003 on a Metalmeet. could not feel a realy big difference that is worth the money.

The steel might age a bit but you won't feel it.

Ben

Steel will not change from age. Humans have that process cornered.

If properties (or metalurgy) changed, Buildings and bridges would collapse over time.

I agree with Ben. In most cases deep draw steel is not needed.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the answers, somehow i thought, the seller made up a excuse...for not having it
Just wanted to know,do they have it...someday would be nice to compare it to regular crs.But like you said, thereīs no difference..so I aint gonna buy it, for that use.

I guessed right away, that it is probably more expensive,, and it is.
