Default Wine Country Meet: Photos

John Alden put on a dynamite metal shaping event! Over 40 people showed up and enjoyed demonstrations by Ben van Berlo, Lazze Jannsen, Ron Covell, Jere Kirkpatrick, Kevin West, Don Houseman, and a few others. Here are some photos. I hope this becomes an annual event because John's shop is located in a beautiful area of Northern California and he really did a great job of hosting an event, and "after party" in Cloverdale. Here are some photos. I hope others will post more.

Thanks for posting the great photos Mr.Longyard. It was nice meeting you this weekend. I am especially glad that you are now safe and will not blow yourself up (inside joke).

Default Thanks Bill

It's been a busy few days around here, and I'm sorry I haven't gotten more pictures posted. Looking at Bills, his are better than mine anyway.

RoverSam did the BBQ duties, with Kevin (Machine Punk) handling the green salad with three different home made dressings. Lane made chocolate chip cookies for everyone (and dang, there were none left over).

A small group of us headed over to Sam's shop afterwards to see the Packard race car he is doing for a customer.

Kevin also did a demonstration of setting solid rivets. The person holding the rivet cutter is Mike Cooper, builder of the Tubester as seen in Street Rodder. Checkout his website, he's a heck of an artist.

Bill only brought four Mechammers from the east coast, and left two behind. If someone wants to see one in northern CA, let me know. My CP planishing hammer will be on ebay soon. The Mechammer is much more versatile.

Howard Booster gave a demo on the Tinmantech.com Air Power Hammer.

Jere Kirkpatrick entertained a group with OA welding demos on both steel and aluminum. He also showed the difference between single stage regulators and two stage.

Lazze made forming the 33-34 Ford window opening look easy. Ron Covell did the bottom of a 32 grill shell in the morning, and the top in the afternoon. Ben kept everyone amazed at all the stuff the Mechammer can do.

I think a good time was had by all.

Thanks to host John and everyone who helped put together this meet. Also big thanks to those who shared their knowledge freely with the attendees. This was my first Metalmeet and I look forward to the next.
