Shop built press brake
Yeah, I know it's not metal shaping but it's part of what I've lusted after for years in building my projects that ultimately have shaping content. That said, I've never been able to justify the cost and space of a dedicated press brake just so I can bend an angle in 1/4" flat bar or something.
Here is a link to building an angle bender that fits in a typical "H" press that many of us already have. This one has been fitted with an air or hydraulic jack (which are great btw). Pretty slick idea. http://www.brilliantdiy.com/diy-pres...-shop-tools/2/ I will be building one.

$170 kit, uses an import press and works great.

These all show "V" dies. Consider an "air bend" configuration as an option.
The forming pressure for thicker material by air bending is much less (IIRC 1/3rd). To air bend, you configure the die (bottom piece) to resemble a "C" channel with the ends "up" - and, of course, radius the inner edges. mjb

I think it's a great idea Kerry. I bought the SWAG finger brake kit (http://www.swagoffroad.com/20-TON-Fi...-Kit_p_86.html) for my HF 20-ton press, and I use it all the time. And by stacking smaller inside diameter angle in the base, I can anything from sheet metal to 5/8" plate.

I have plans to make one when I get to build all my body mounts to weld to the chassis.
Wish I had that sort of plate just lying around though as it is damn expensive to buy new here!

Thanks! I was just thinking about do something like this. I found a place with a bunch of dies. I figured I could come up with something but hadn't searched yet.

I made one for my press. It doesn't have the guide pins on the side, so i can use it for longer stuff. I once pressed a length of 1,5meters of 2mm sheet.
Works great! I used 90 degree profiles for the top and bottom. The bend is always a bit shy of 90 degrees, so i usually hammer the rest of the bend.

Obtaining more than 90 deg is the reason for the air bending configuration.
On reflection, it takes something like 3X the pressure to 90 deg "V" and 6X to "coin" the metal so it leaves the die at (approx) 90 degrees. There are good resources, like at the Cincinnati website that explains this, and other metal bending factors, in good detail.
