Pexto 241 lever shear
Picked this up at my local candy store (Dempsy's) along with another punch . I have a punch disease
hand shear 001 s.jpg hand shear 002 s.jpg hand shear 004 s.jpg hand shear 006 s.jpg hand shear 008 s.jpg I cant wait to try it out , as much as i use my corner notcher to make brackets this will do much heavier metal . It will also cut both ways on the blade ... if you look at the blade the right side goes up a little so it will cut on both sides , it will do inside corners and start in the middle of the sheet . The table was broken so i took it off to fix it. James Last edited by James Bowler; 10-07-2010 at 09:00 AM. |

I just want to revisit this thread . After cleaning and resharpening the carbide blade and using it for 3 years .This has become one of my favorite tools ! It will cut a straight line for days the blade is 9 " so it will follow itself. It will also cut 11 ga . (.125) . It said 12 in the book but old pexto was always underrated. If you ever see one buy it you will not be disappointed .

That looks like a very handy shear. Nice detail with the back rake on the straight blade.

241 shear
James-- Nice shear. I bought mine on an impulse buy here in York, PA and it has been so handy! I haven't really seen another one in person.
102_0164.jpg 102_0163.jpg Glad you found yours as handy as I have found with mine.... The one I bought did not have the front table or the back stop. But it did have the cast iron legs... Brad

Pexto 241-C converted to power shear
photo.jpg
photo-1.jpg photo-2.jpg photo-3.jpg photo-4.jpg photo-5.jpg photo-6.jpg photo-7.jpgHey guys, Thank you very much for posting your information in this thread, it doesn't seem like there is much information out there on these machines. I just picked mine up at a barn sale for $70. It looks like someone along the way tried to convert it to a powered unit. The shaft that cycles the shear is missing though. Have you guys ever seen one of these units converted over to power before? Do you know where I can find some more information or pictures showing how the ex-centric works for the blade? I have a few ideas on how I can machine a shaft that might work, but I don't even know how the internals actually looked when it was a power or manual unit. If you guys have any info or advice that you could help me out with, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Jon Last edited by route56wingnut; 07-04-2014 at 12:46 PM. |

well that is interesting......
I wonder if the previous owner broke the shaft by trying to shear something too big or just didn't get it done.... I don't really know what it looks like. I would have to pull the front plate on mine to see what it looks like. I'll be out of town for the next while, so I won't have a chance to do that... I'll check this thread after awhile to see if you have it figured out. If not, I can see about looking at mine closer for you...
