AMEN TO THAT! You would think that after making after making my living as a project manager for 40 years, I would know this better. Planning isn't always fun but it's always important.

Great job Steve and thanks for taking the time to document this. I'll make sure Kris reads it.

I went to the school of Hard Knocks, and took the remedial class a couple times too Now I plan first, most of the time.

Remides me of having gum in my hair. How did you get that out without destroying the crossmember?

Dave.

Default Rare option

Since the truck had the big back window and no A/C, a previous owner installed a shade tree to keep the cab cooler....
The guy I got it from spent 3 saturdays cutting trees out to get the truck.
I just paid $$$ and winched it on the trailer.

I kept the cross rail with the stump on it..... should make a good conversation piece. Not sure where I will display it

displaying cool automotive parts all depends on your wife...

glad to hear you saved it.

a local company tried to get started building these trucks

its all made wider and longer. was quite a comfortable truck. I seemed to be in all the right places at the wrong time when this truck was going on and it would have been fun to help on but my engineering professor designed the collision aproved chassis with crumple zones and they just really spent too much money on it and it went flop. but the interior and paint was done by jerry noone who I worked with for a few months (never got paid but learned a lot) link to info on truck and more pics what they did was take 2 complete cabs and trucks and just cut and weld. just bad market timing.

I really like what your doing and cant wait to see more shaping! your truck will be done better and last longer.

Steve, this is a metal shaping site, unless you are going to show us the wood shaping details please just remove the wood and continue with the metal work.

Steve, thanks for taking the time to post this thread, and the explanations that go with your pics.
I read pretty much everything that gets posted on this forum, and am continually amazed at the quality and quantity of work that gets produced.
I am paying very close attention to this one, as I have a similar project in my shop as we speak. Mine is a '66 though, not a '58.
Sure makes me yearn for a power hammer.

Fantastic work, and a great thread!!!!!!!
