When I was doing work for Griswold & Co, Berkeley, CA, in 1981-2, he was restoring 4 of the 250 GTO's. Their metal dept. had built up a fabbed version of the Maglio, full size with what looked like a 4ft throat. Since it was dusty and their Wheel was not, I asked about the Maglio and was told that they could not get it to work correctly.
Later on, I learned from Ken Webber Engineering that Ken had spent time calculating and testing input speeds, leverage, and arm designs and had finally come up with a very useable Helve/Maglio.

If you are looking for a Maglio Helve i would suggest you try contacting "PARXJKS" either on here or youtube iirc he is the grandson of the parx hammer inventor. As i recall he was trying to track down original hammers from his relative - i would have thought he would have found Maglio in the process too. i think he is based in france(?)

It took some searching, but I had contact with the grandson of the company "Johann Kunz Sohne from Kronberg" in Germany, which built the PARX machines !
Nice to find out, that there is also a German built equivalent from the Italian "Maglio Helve" Hammers. The PARX 49/00 is such a machine (availabe in several versions), which they made a couple of hundred from and were used by Mercedes, Karmann, Magirus etc. This is a video from a working PARX "Spann-, Polier- and Treibhämmer" machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qnaOWcvmoY A version mounted on a wall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWWuS7m91H0 And another one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRAtB4p-Q18 Some printscreens:

Thanks for posting that William. What does the foot control change, speed, stroke or both? I liked the wall mounted one best.

Steve, i seem to recall this is a fixed speed, fixed eccentric stroke machine. the foot pedal is operating a hammer limiting buffer, in doing so it alters the "hit"...that's what i remember anyway could be wrong

No i'm wrong! it's altering the crank axis and hence the eccentricity/stroke.

Good news !
A couple of days ago we were contacted by the grandson of the PARX company "Johann Kunz Sohne from Kronberg" and he knew a PARX 49/00 machine in Germany for sale ! So, yesterday Martin took a quick trip to Germany and brought back this German version of a Maglio Helve Hammer, which is in a perfect working condition ! Everyone will understand that we are very happy with this find, see photos underneath: [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

I thought I would revive this thread and see if the Parx hammer has been put to work and how it is performing.
