I had the same question and like you found bugger-all on the net.

I have curved 6mm rod across two open vice jaws, tapping in the centre with a heavy hammer; the risk may be cracking the vice!

Two bits of round bar, about 25mm diameter, welded to a plate and set on the anvil would be just as useful and indestructible.

Some sheet metal rolls have grooves machined in the end – probably to accommodate a wired-edge – a large enough set would handle 6mm bar.
