Hurricane
It appears at the moment that our friends in the Carolina's are in for some extreme conditions before the end of the week. Wind and flooding. The storm is projected to stall out and dump rain for some time.
Being a native Floridian, I know how traumatizing that can be. We had one that camped out on Palm Beach County for thirty hours. So you guys that are in that area, please take this storm seriously. We have folks(Yankee transplants) that have hurricane parties. I call them having an IDtenT problem (write the ten out numerically). Fill up your gas tanks now. Tomorrow or the next day will most likely be too late ( unless you like long lines at the gas station). Be careful and know that there will be prayers on your behalf (at least from me). Please post when you have your electricity restored to let us know that you are OK. You are family, after all. Take care and may the Lord bless you and yours. Carey |

I’ll second that Carey. After having been through many big ones here in southeastern Louisiana, I know the importance of preparation.
Hope all our friends will be safe. Mike |

My son flew out to Charlotte this morning and he’s a nervous traveller at the best of times so news of a hurricane didn’t make him feel any better
Let’s hope everyone stays safe and any damage is kept to a minimum.

Seriously Carey and everyone else- thank you for your prayers and consideration. It's hard to tell what direction things will go. I was thinking about how many tall trees Will has and how wet the ground may get. Probably lots of rain here, unless it's a European model hurricane and then it's coming straight through Will place to mine, then on towards ATL. We're getting ready, especially trying to plan for my mother & uncle significant eldercare needs should things go south. It's funny how they never say "when things go north"- maybe some yankee things aren't so bad. They've already reversed multiple roads and interstates already here in SC down near the coast. No matter what, it looks like eastern and central NC is going to get a real Harvey-esque hammering. The rest of us will just have to wait and see. Be safe and keep us posted. We'll try to be careful here.

I'm ready to ride it out Lt. Dan style... Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, it looks to be a bad one. I'm as ready as I'm going get. I'll probably use the time to get out in the garage and shape some metal.

If the power does go out here for any significant length of time, I've got a big freezer full of meat that will have to be cooked if it thaws. Plenty of wood split & waiting. Even ran off a few gallons of very young but ok new muscadine wine this morning.
Might need to have a party after all...
