Default 'Twas a near thing!

Trifocals...gotta love them. I guess. The problem is that I can't see the floor unless I look for it...literally. And with all the junk in my shop I tend to look down a lot.

This week I've been building a bunch of machines to go into inventory just in case someone decides to buy something someday. I took the frames to LineX yesterday and today I was assembling adjusters. Not very challenging but just work.

I've built a couple of ewheels that mount to the rear legs of "Viagra', my big Ewheel (wait for it......). One of them is a 26F and I was using the frame to bolt the adjuster shells to while I assembled and adjusted the components. The frame is almost free floating because there is no front leg. I'll post some photos later...it's really a pretty neat setup...an all ewheel work station.

There is actually quite a few pieces parts in one of these. In addition to the shell, there is the quill, feed screw, two thrust bearings, four precision washers, two 3/8 bolts, four Steel/UHMW bearing plates, eight 3/8x1" set screws, eight washers, and eight 3/8 nuts. I built 8 adjusters so there was quite a collection of pieces parts laid out on the table.

Some time during the process, I ran out of set screws, walked over to this cart where I keep everything, grabbed a hand full, turned around to put them on the table and found myself flat on my back on the floor. My glasses halfway across the shop, set screws scattered on the floor. I had walked head first into the machine. I have a really nice goose egg on my forehead that is already turning blue, a couple holes in my shoulder, and a headache. Fortunately I had not yet put the set screws and nuts on because that would have made some serious holes in my noggin.

The tool arm was off the machine because it's at LineX and I was looking down at the floor. The tool arm would have been visible and kept this from happening. In the meantime, I put a bucket on the floor and hung a towel over the adjuster.

Dang, 2100 lbs of steel doesn't move much when hit by a 210 lb old fart.

Hope you are okay, guess that is why you didn't call me back with the dimensions. Old people have to slow down and not get in a hurry.
I have enough trouble with bifocals.

It's fine and I'm fine. I'm sure glad I built Viagra by stiffening a HF wheel/ The HF frame no doubt made the difference...

Dang Joe I forgot. Tomorrow.
