Default Meco Cut/Weld Set For Sale

For sale is a ONE OWNER Meco cut/weld set, including good Meco regulators, used by a bodyman his entire career. Used the cutting torch to cut the panels, and the No. 1 welding tip to weld 18 gauge panels in. He just retired and I acquired this set in a trade. New "O" rings in both torches. Comes with TWO torch handles. Also includes two flashback protectors and new lenses on the gauges.

$265 plus $22 shipping in the US.

AKA Meco "Aviator Jet" torches, Bill.

Folks tend to ask for them by name.

Thanks Kent. Yes, they are Aviators, both of them. The gentleman from whom I got them said he purchased them in 1980. I didn't realize that they were available as late as that.

Meco Aviator torches are different from the Meco Aviator Jets, Bill.
You have Aviator Jets, I believe. They should be clearly marked on the torch handles as such.

Meco came out with the N Midget in 1984.
The Meco company was purchased entirely by Victor/Thermadyne 1993/1994, I believe.
Victor began dismantling the Meco stock and tooling in 1995.

The Modern Engineering Company was active in WW2 and had great morale and esprit d'corps into the 1994 model year. The employees were greatly chagrined to learn the company was being sold off, from what I heard. 50+ years is a good run, however.

I'm curious, Kent- what are the differences between Aviator and Aviator Jet torches?

Aviator was early smaller version of Jet. I am looking for an Aviator and have a new Aviator Jet to trade for one. And cutting head and tips, too.
