Thanks for the Scarab pictures. I'm busy playing around with 1/4 round rod and duct tape. Trying to design a race / street car that fits my oversize body is a tough one. I need to upscale the look and there will plenty of comprimises. I may design different on one side to another first and sneak up on it a little at a time. No rules!

Good start Ray.

Couple suggestions from my own school of hard knocks.

Be sure you roll it outside and look at it from a distance. Things look different at a distance and the overall perspective is really what you're looking for.

It might help you to make a 'Burt Buck' using metal tape (or something) over the wire as you get things close to what you think you want. It really helps to visualize what it might look like. There are quite a few examples of how I used them in my roadster build. One of the best tricks ever imo.

This might be an over simplification ( or complication), but could you cut out the floor and mount it lower (a'la channeling) to be able to lower the windshield and still be a good fit for you? also might be worth a call to your state DMV to find out if you can relocate the vin tag

Doing a little more, I have had the paper and tape off and on a few times.
I'm still trimming the vette down here and there to get the lines to flow. The door tops trimmed to a "swallow tail" look to help blend the front and rear fenders. The hood blister area is next to get over the radiator and engine. Once i get some basic form i will tear it all off and start a proper form for forming the metal. Learning as i go....................Ray

Looking like a great project Ray. Initial design and mockup is always the most challenging yet fun part of the build process. Getting the templates right at this stage will make things easier when you move onto metal forming.

More stuff.....Reshaped the door tops and rear quarters. Worked up a new helmet fairing. Getting close to jigging up the other side. Ray Name: 006.jpg

Default still here

I have cut the doors more and have now changed the door latches and have beefed them up a bit with extra braces. Starting to make test panels to see the limits to my panel size and shape. Will be scrap more or less but is good practice and gives me a feel for the shape of the car. Ray
