I repolished both perches and assembled them. They came out good. Proportioning hand made parts is difficult. I think the size of the mirrors is appropriate for the size of the car. I think I could have made the top of the perches a little thinner.
I talked to my welder today. He'll try to finish the roof frame today. Hopefully I can pick it up tomorrow. I need to make up for some time lost on that.

Very nice mirrors!

What is the rectangular hole beneath the mirror perch? Door latch?

I finally got my roof frame back from being welded and it was worth the wait. It had far less distortion than I expected. The front left corner was up about 1/2" higher than the right. I clamped it down and bent it down to match the right side in a couple minutes by hand.
Next I started cutting templates for the skins. I wanted to see it fleshed out before I went any further. I'm satisfied with the look. It's a go.
In the pics below you can clearly see what I was talking about regarding the 2 to 1 height ratio. The body, from the bottom to the belt line is twice the heigh of the top from the belt line to the highest point on the roof. It gives the car a look that is long low and sleek but in proportion. It doesn't scream "CHOPPED!"
