Default Anyone heard from John Alden (Overkill)??

His home and shop is in the middle of wine country about where the wildfires are raging.

The latest fire map doesn't show anything that side of Cloverdale. That said the fires have been popping up all over. Stopped about a mile from my house, destruction is horrible.

I called John and his area in Cloverdale is far enough across the Alexander Valley to be safe, so far.

On the other hand, over north of Santa Rosa, Howard Booster lost it all.

50 - 70 mph winds, 5% humidity, and huge leaf drop from the oaks with high dry vegetation from last winter's double-normal rainfall - after 5 years of drought..... leapfrogging fires hundreds of yards apart.
Rain gutters full of dry leaves with more leaves piled by the winds around the homes ... puff, crackle, fa-whoom.

And our new"global" building codes will make it double-expensive to replace older, established estate homes and buildings ....

OMG that is heart breaking. My prayers go out to Howard. I remember him from the old MetalShapers Association days.

That fire looked like it got really hot, the cast iron bandsaw frame got hot enough that it sagged.

That is a sad, sad sight. It's been a very tough year for a lot of people.

That’s a terrible sight, not sure how you’d ever get started again after an event like that. I know they’re only pieces of metal at the end of the day but it must be devastating to suffer a loss like that - house, car, possessions, workshop - all gone. Horrible.
