Default Scratch building Bugatti 57SC

Ira, beautiful work so far. If I may ask, what thickness of material did you use for the control arm mounts?

Having switched out from the planned M3 rear suspension it was built for to the F360/430 four corner suspension necessitating undoing and redoing the back end of the chassis this weekend, and seeing daylight at the end of this stage of the chassis build and the start of the 3/4'" tube superleggera structure at the end of the month, and given extra time over the holiday to think about it all, I made the decision that it was time to migrate the buck to the chassis and make sure everything fits while it's all just tacked and the rear is being redone. Ultimately, my good friends at The Driveshaft Shop will make me custom half shafts (as well as a carbon fiber driveshaft) to mate the M3 differential to the 360 hubs:

Looks awesome Ira! It must be really exciting to see the body buck on the chassis. Can't wait to see it in person.

Thanks Chris!!! I'm going to be at Wray's all 3 days of this MLK weekend, come on up! Exciting and relieved, there's always that fear of building two separate things for a year that despite all the measurements maybe it won't fit or look right. Now that it does, super stoked. Pushing hard to finish the rear and chassis tweaks this weekend and next and planning to be in the shop for a week's vacation (10 days!!) end of month (coinciding with Steve and Matt) to weld it all up and build the 3/4" tubing structure for the panels. With luck will be back to panel shaping early February. At least that's the near term goal. --I

Great project and will be a real standout.

The week im at wrays ill be concentrating at pushing myself on shaping some harder panels... hopefully you have some wire buck ready for me haha. My main goal is to do some super technical sheetmetal panels and push myself to make something hard. 1/31 - 2/7 I should be around... May be taking a few of those days off here and there to show matt some east coast but looking forward to spending some time with you.
