One every now and then and no persistent problems? I think we're doing good - and Joe is doing a great job of staying on top of the situation!

Serendipity has also been banned by IP. I hope there aren't any real users in the neighborhood using the same host.

It's not possible to block someone who is willing to manually register. All we can do is chop them as soon as they stick their nasty heads up. Thanks Joe.

That's why we block IP addresses Haven't found a failure with that yet that I know of.

Then you have to deal with anonymous proxies and such, but that's a whole 'nother can o' worms there.

A lot of people (like me) don't have a fixed IP address, so you would have to ban a full class B subnet to make it effective.

But no worry. This place is nice and quiet. I just deleted the PM as it was quite obvious what it was.

Thanks for being alert though. I noticed (s)he was banned already when I noticed the PM.

Yep, that's pretty much the way I approach it! I do my best not to attack an IP range that contains a member, so we obviously can't block everything. Joe is particularly vigilant in making sure spammers who slip through don't last long. Some of them are pretty persistent though.
