The admins are not doing a survey!!!!

I don't think you should open it.

Thanks Steve
I thought it was a bit strange that I had not read about it because I'm on this site 3 or 4 times a day, thanks again

Yeah, we don't do popups and the only way we have to communicate is via a post, a poll, or mass emails.

I'd have been the one to do anything however so if you could PM me any details I'd be interested in knowing more about it.

I have five computers to maintain and keep working, four of them are PCs and one Macbook. For the most part there isn't much to them beside routine maintenance. There are programs we like to use that are freeware that are increasingly adding on spyware, bloatware and other tracking and adverting software to pay for these.

I just upgraded my working computer to x64 and some of the programs I rely on like Filezilla have some not so fun stuff attached. Some of it was required to install the software, then after the installation I had to go back and remove all the nasty stuff.

It is important that you have some sort of anti-virus software and an anti-malware program.

I have been using AVGfree for some time, not the best any longer but still functional.

I have been using Malwarebytes Anti-malware also. Along with some of the native Microsoft programs like Windows Defender. You should run these programs on a semi-regular basis and refrain from adding tool bars to your browsers and stick to Google or Bing as your search engines.

If you are seeing highlighted hyperlinks in posts where you probably shouldn't its a pretty good indicator you are infected. One of the most nasty ones I just had to remove was called "Conduit Search" and let me tell you, I have experience removing and maintaining this stuff and I had a time getting rid of all of it.

Good luck!
