Default Hello from Chula Vista

Hello everyone, my name is George Gallegos, I live in Chula Vista, CA. and i've been meandering this site for a while now and have liked very much what I have seen so far. I am a newbie to metalshaping and my interest in it has been fueled by the lack of profesionalism from a few bodyshops in the area.
I have a VW convertible that i've been trying to restore but have had no luck in having the work done by a reputable workshop. The last shop had the car for over a year and basically did nothing to it.
So i want to try my hand on it and see if i can restore it on my own and have the satisfaction of a job well done, and I hope to learn as much as I can from all members on this site. Any help I can get will be much appreciated.

Welcome to the site George, we all had to start learning at dome point, any questions you have will find an answer here (or more probably several answers).

George, I was just out in SD over Labor day and happened to go to the car show at Qualcomm stadium. I was surprised to see all the nice VW's:

Good luck on your restoration, with all the nice VW's out there, looks like you'll be in good company
