You could try this;
http://www.scan2cad.com/ I have used it and it works well. Or you can place an image in a part and sketch over it. I did this for the Sauber C9.

Don't be helpless, you have Google at your fingertips. Search for "sketch picture Solidworks" and you're on the way. My only tip is that before you import a picture into your sketch, create a construction line of some known dimension that corresponds to part of your picture so you can scale the image properly when you import it.

I dont think its being helpless when someone offers to help you and has experience with it, and you except that help. They may know little tips and tricks that just makes it easier. I suppose you learned everything you know about metal from one source also? There is more than one way to skin a cat.

I'm sorry if I came across a bit harsh but I'm trying to save you days of pointless waiting when the answer to a completely generic Solidworks question was always a few seconds away.
Here, this is from memory: Open a sketch. Tools>>Sketch Tools>>Sketch Picture. Pick your image file and click OK. Done.

So I took what Flebus post and put a sketch into Solidworks. The hardest part was that my scanner puts everything into adobe reader, and having to copy the image open it in paint thus converting over to a jpg vs pdf. When I say hardest, not really that hard, just a few extra steps. I am about to head to eat with some friends, but have a video I know I have watched before about the Auto trace functions and other tips for manually tracing your image waiting for when I get back. Im hoping to make a part that will fix my in laws pexto slip roller. They keep using it as is and breaking it even more. (They are the type of people who work with metal cause it was a family business they got into, but really dont care about working with metal) So they see no value in such a nice tool. I do and hope to fix it to use it.

just did this in literally 2 minutes.
first thing.. right click and add the sketch picture button to your toolbar I didnt have a hand drawn sketch, but i opened a file from another cad program and made it a jpeg instead. I then imported it and scaled it to a known dimension. That center hole is 25.4, so I scaled the jpeg accordingly. from there I used the power of solidworks (after it crashed once, which is why i hardly use it) to sketch over the part. I created relations and dimensions in ordinance with my design intent. extrude and done.

In my version 12, it took me a while to figure out that I had to open a 'part' drawing and actually have a line, etc. in place BEFORE I could insert a .jpg, etc. If I drew a small circle, the lower left corner of the .jpg inserted itself at the center of the circle. Thanks for starting this thread!
