The results are in. Great lakes meet was fantastic weekend! We had a comfortable group of 15 people. Demonstrations using recip hammers for shaping, embossing and how to evenly shrink deep had total attendance. O/A welding got many involved and understanding the intricacies of that skill. I was able to use a different flux and learned a tip for more consistent weld beads. We were able to show and use mechanical, tuck and stump shrinking for the class projects. I believe everyone learned something!
Big thanks to: Mark Lynn, Dake rep and aluminum welding Bob Erison, general help and nicest guy on planet! Larry Mullen, o/a welding steel and project instructor. Steve Greenway, project instruction Craig, for the use of shop, instructor, food, everything!

Congratulations, Mike. It's always nice to hear about talented and dedicated folks that join together to share the knowledge and camaraderie among like minded people.
You know the next question: "Where's the pictures"? (Don't include any from the Wixom Post Office)

I had trouble trying to load 4 pictures, will try later.
I've been watching PO for the most wanted. You've finally fallen off the Top10. Littering the highway with sand and critter skeletons just isn't a big deal these days.

The Great Lakes Metal Meet.
I recently attended the Great Lakes Metal Meet and can honestly say it is worth it. Beginner, novice or looking to sharpen you professional skills, you will walk away with something. I am not talking about the generous door prizes or the full belly from the amble lunches. You will meet others that enjoy share their knowledge to better your skills. The personal training sections for gas welding steel and aluminum leave you with a can do attitude. Dagger Tools provided an opportunity to train under the ideal shop conditions as I had access to ever tool and machine needed. At no time did I ever feel unsupported with personal instruction from the staff as my project developed. This metal meet was a unique experience what has given me the boost I needed to jump start my confidence. Regards John Phillips

I attended the meet this past weekend and had a great time. This was the most hands-on meet I have ever attended. Everyone was busy making something for most of the two-day meet. I was assisting several others rather than working on a project of my own and I learned a ton. I guess there is a reason they say that the best way to learn something is to teach it to someone else!
Craig and Mike are to be commended on a great meet. I think a larger group would have lost the focus. As it was, everyone had something to do, sufficient work space and tools, and a few people to go to when they needed help. Great time! Here are some photos that I took. My apologies as I've already forgotten a few names. IMG_0561.jpg John and Steve are working on their paper template. IMG_0564.jpg Brothers John and Jerry getting ready to move from paper to steel. IMG_0562.jpg John is trying to figure out how he is going to make the steel fit his buck IMG_0572.jpg John is in the early stages of the process. This shape took a while, but his persistence paid off in the end. IMG_0571.jpg Steve with his favorite new tool. IMG_0568.jpg Mike "Motage" Clarahan helping with a project. A few more photos
Larry is doing a gas welding demo on steel. IMG_0591.jpg Mike is comparing a bead from a reciprocating machine to one created with a bead roller. IMG_0618.jpg Craig is demonstrating thumbnail shrinking on a Dake reciprocating machine. IMG_0616.jpg John is working on the center section of his motorcycle fender. IMG_0596.JPG Bob is making a panel for his Model T to close off the area below the radiator. IMG_0574.jpg Jerry is taking John's photo with his panel. They each made a panel for this buck.
