Default Useful for profile templates?

I've been looking for something to use with my shrinker and stretcher to make profile templates. I have a sheet of 18ga. sheetmetal but I have no way to cut it into strips. I don't really want to use it for that anyways. What about using this as an alternative?

Would it be stiff enough or flop around too much? Anyone else have any ideas on something to use?

That's only 4 square feet of material, really pricey for what you want to use it for. Also a bit thin and a bit narrow in my humble opinion.

I looked at McMasters. I see material in 1/8 and 2mm thicknesses. Isn't that a little on the thick side?

That looks like strapping, (but galvanized, which you don't want) stop by any lumber yard or anywhere they receive palleted goods and it should be a give-away. Larger lumber loads have 3/4" or 1" wide strapping. Strapping is usually a higher carbon content steel, so I don't know how it will shrink/stretch. Have some 3/4" in the back, will give it a try in a couple days and let you know.

I would not use banding. If it says "AAR" on it, definitely not! (American Association of Railroads) it is a specific product with huge tensile strength. The black coating (paint) will clog up your shrinker jaws, and, well you will just be sad. sorry.
I know my "Metalsupermarket" will shear strips like that.

**EDIT** I just looked, there are not any "Metalsupermarket" branches in MO!

Only tried the stretcher, way too hard, doesn't want to stretch easily, probably not good for tooth life either.
