Doming dies from Hoosier Profiles
I took some 6" stock up to Joe last October for him to make me some 6" anvils. While I was there he gave me the nickle tour. I noticed these things on the bench and was looking at them. Joe said, "Those are planishing hammer dies for a Grizzly Planishing Hammer."
I said, "Joe, you're missing an marketing opportunity, make a square stem for them and you'll sell a bunch of them as doming dies for reciprocating machines." Joe was so enthused with the idea he gave me a set of dies and this week sent along the 3/4 square stem for my Pullmax and other reciprocating machines. v 005.jpg They come in the following radius 10", 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1.5. All these are 2" in diameter. There is also a 1 and a 1/2" radius die that is smaller diameter. He also has a linear stretching die that fits on a 5/8 square stem. I'll make an adapter for it. v 004.jpg Each tool is positioned on the stem with a set screw. A nice feature is that the tool can be changed without removing the stem which will be much faster on a Pullmax than having to remove the whole tool holder to pull the tooling with the stem. He even put a flat on the round part of the stem for the set screw. v 006.jpg These could also be used in a planishing hammer with the appropriate round stem. The upper can be a urethane hammer head or the traditional Pullmax doming upper. I don't know what Joe is going to get for these but they, like everything he makes, are really well made. Thanks Joe.
