Billy, you will be very pleased with Neil's small planishing hammer. His dies are also excellent. I have both set, small and large, of his dies that fit in racks that I made and attached to the frame.

For what it's worth, I have both a 36" CP styled after one of Wray's early sketches, and one of Neils, and I use Neils 10 to 1 over the 36".

Tuck is correct about Neil Dunders 12 inch air hammer being able to handle about 80 percent of the work that the average person will do. It is a nice machine and only doing large panels would be the need to have a 36 inch air hammer.
Since we do a lot of large panels we would not be without the 36 inch hammer. You also only need one air hammer so you ave to decide what is best for you. We are building the new air hammer to add little things to the new hammer which will improve small things to make it even more versatile. Another thing that you can do with an air hammer besides doing nice finish work on your panels is to make panels from scratch with the hammer. My first shaping hammer was a waterveleit hand held air hammer mounted on a stand with about an 18 inch throat and I made all of the panels I needed with that hammer. It is still being used for that by current owner. Marty will post pictures as our new hammer prgresses. Dutch

Tuck. I agree about Neils hammer. Only problem i see with yours is its color. It stands out from all the blue and white stuff. Gator

Hey Gator, nice to hear another familiar chime. Blue and White kinda ties back to the Cobra project, which kinda got its colors from our Desert Racing Ford Ranger. Now everything kinda gets painted Blue and/or White.

Joe,
Those are some nice looking racks. I think neils hammer will best suit what I want to do which is mostly motorcycle stuff and if I have a bigger panel I guess I'll just use my wheel. Thanks for the pics and input.

I feel the same way Billy. I have yet to find myself needing more throat depth than my 12" CP gives me. Bigger panels go in the wheel. I'd love to have a reason to build one but I haven't found it yet.

I see on Marty's build thread (http://allmetalshaping.com/showthread.php?t=2237) that he regulates the air pressure down to 90-100 psi on his hammer(s), but does anyone have a guess/estimate on the CFM that's needed at that pressure?
