Default Apprentice from Texas

Hello all, my name is Aaron. Around here I go by Nelly, so feel free to do the same. Anyway I am very, very green to metal shaping. I am a motorcycle mechanic by profession, but more interested in the true building of motorcycles. Metal shaping is a new passion for me and I am lucky enough to be learning in a local shop. So I will keep y'all posted on new projects and hope everyone is ready for a bunch of questions. BTW I am from Ft. Worth, Texas. I have started shaping my first gas tank. I am using and trying to learn with a stump and plenty of hammers.

Nelly, welcome to the site, ask your questions and someone will answer. If you get a chance post some pictures of what you are doing. We do like pictures. Thanks for joining.

Hello Nelly,

Welcome to allmetalshaping, its possible to get perfect results using nothing more than hand tools and if you want to learn how to make parts doing it by hand before using machines is the way to go. You will get a feel for the metal. I started shaping metal about 35 years ago and I still do a great deal of it by hand because often it is quicker then setting up machines.

David

BTW by daughers name gets shortened to Nelly.
