Default Not to get off topic

I've been toying with building a unique swap meet wagon. That's something a lot of us could use and should be fairly simple and small. No design ideas, but something above and beyond a Radio Flyer.

Just thought I'd toss it out there.

I don't seem to be able to find any photos of the work we did at MM06 of the Buggati pedal car. Here is a photo of Dutch looking at the buck:

And here is the Rhino 3D model that Gene Olsen did based on a modified early version of the Bugatti build thread on MetalMeet.

As you can see, it's a COMPLEX body. Really just about as complex as my roadster...only smaller. In the first photo, you can see the indentations in the side. That's where the fenders mount.

I hired Gene Olsen to do the CAD work and print full size drawings, these were glued to 5 ply 1/2" plywood and cut out. He got the main body and we put it together. The rear fender drawings are in a box on my shelf and Gene never finished the front fender drawings but I'm sure he would. The last time I spoke with him his big printer was DOA.

Again, it's a COMPLEX body and 8' long.

Here is a link to the original thread on MM:

Default Just the Tub

Just doing the tub without the fenders would still be a pretty cool looking car. Could always add the fenders later (or not).

I have been thinking about this for the last couple days. I think your on to something. Especially since just building the tub will be a challenge for me

I'm going to talk to Gene about the drawings. He wasn't at the Route 56 MM, so I don't know what he is up to since I met him in the spring. I will post if I can get copies of the drawings from him and take it from there....

No word from Gene yet (PM or Email). He must be working on something big at The Mettle Works.

Does anyone else still have info on this forgotten project? Shall I inquire on the MM site??

I've sent Gene an email also with no response. I suspect he's off line for some reason.

You can ask on MM if you want but the pedal car was a private business transaction between Gene and me. I paid him to produce the drawings...actually I traded him a second wheeling machine but either way it was just between us.

Well then I guess we should wait to hear from Gene. Isn't like I don't have other projects to do. I just talked to Dan Pate last night and I forgot to ask him if he has heard from Gene lately. I know he was an "I don't know" for the fall meet so he must have some way of contacting him.

BTW: The first bowl I made was instructed by Gene and finished using your wheel! That's cool

Gene has been found and the word is out that we are looking for him.
He's been too busy lately to surf the sites but at least he knows we need his input when he gets time.
