Heh.. I get it.

Okay. Lap welding is out. I may have to rent a trailer again and make a field trip to the bustling metropolis of Danville.

I am in need of some guidance anyway- If I'm not careful, I could really end up hosing this project up. I havea few corners that need doctoring.

I promise not to break anything, make a mess, or set anything on fire.

Rob, before you drag your car, you might just mark and cut the fender into the component pieces and go practice welding. Once you get welding down, you could weld the panels into the whole flair, finish to your desired state, pull a flexible pattern and do the other side. You won't really need the car until you're ready to weld them in.

Yall will like each other. You're both good guys.

It's a possibility. I have the pieces I made in NY somewhat welded together, but it nags at me that the welds have cracks and some burn-throughs in them. I have some steel coming to me in the next few days, so I may junk the front section, and make another one- After I take a pattern from it.

My first pattern from my buck isn't all that great, and the piece in question has been shrunk down and is pretty close- but it's the weld seam that is messy and brittle. The back section is as good as it ever was.
I could just extend the pattern over the weld and make a slightly longer front section.

Hi Rob
If you want to take a cruise up and hang out and get use to burning holes it would be a great oppertunity for you to learn. Its not a problem to bring the panel in question along. I have a weekend here and there that I will be in the shop when we are not at shows.

Rob,

Now you're talkin'! If Steve is willing to volunteer to help ya out, take it, man! Steve is a darn good guy and has a good handle on what he's doing too.

Thanks for stepping up, Steve! Oh, and I'll have to check out the Photobucket stuff. I just had to comment on the animated hand, cuz it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb
