Default Old School

My bead roller doesn’t like 17 ga. So I went old school on this Fire Bird trunk extension. From the paper pattern the 2 part wood die is made and with a router the edges rolled over on one panels. Once the metal is bolted between the wood a quick trip to the plaz-cutter for the correct flanges and it’s on to the air hammer. This sound easy enough but the time involved to get to the final metal shape is a lot slower than a tipping die. The only savings would be when the next Fire Bird trunk extension comes in the door. Only then would it be a dollar a minute for the part or $30.00 whatever comes first

Very good answer to that problem.

(I'm not that fond of wafer board and am glad to see it used for this. My plywood form blocks worked well on 20ga old Ford F-1 fender patches last week ..... not ready for show-and-tell, just yet )
