Longtime lurker - aircraft mech from Bama
Just wanted to drop a line and say hello to you guys. I've been a part of "the other site" for about 5 or 6 years, and have been to a couple of meets at Kerry's place over the last few years, and absolutely love metalshaping. With a full time job turning wrenches on corporate/general aviation cargo planes, a side business doing vibration analysis on aircraft, and a new 8-month old baby boy at my house, I just have little time for much progress on projects.
I'm 2/3 through my first english wheel build, using mostly what scrap I had laying around. It's a 26" throat frame made of 2"x2"x.187" tubing, doubled up, and is pretty stiff. It has a cheap 6x2 HF upper that has been trued up, and some nice 3x2 lowers. bear in mind this is just for aluminum, so the HF should work. LOL... My next project will be a toybox for my son, built up out of riveted aluminum sheet metal just like we do aircraft. Maybe put some shape in it, and polish it up. Should be cool. Anyway, I look forward to hanging with you guys. There are some AWESOME projects going on here. God bless, and happy holidays. Richard Hudgins |
